State's Jobless Rate Slightly Rises to 9.6% in July
(CHARLESTON, S.C.) -- South Carolina's unemployment rate rose for the third straight month in July, the S.C. Department of Employment and Workforce reported Friday.
The state's jobless rate slightly increased from 9.4 percent in June to 9.6 percent in July. An increasing number of unemployed people (4,040) and a decrease in the number of people who were employed (-11,231) fueled the rise in the rate.
