Voters to Determine Fate of Gov. and Lt. Gov. Joint Tickets

(COLUMBIA, S.C.) -- It will be up to state voters to decide if future gubernatorial candidates and candidates for lieutenant governor should run on a joint ticket, similarly to presidential and vice presidential candidates.

The State reports that the House voted 97-16 on Wednesday in agreement with the Senate amendment to put the measure before voters in November.

Gov. Nikki Haley has long supported the change, which will not go into effect until after Haley leaves office.
