Man Dies After Police Use Stun Gun to Subdue Him

(FORT WORTH, Texas) -- A man died after policed attempted to detain him using a Taser on Thursday evening.

According to the Dallas Morning News, officers were serving a drug warrant at about 4 p.m. on Thursday when Jermaine Darden, 34, resisted arrest. Officers shot Darden with a stun gun, but after he was detained, he began to suffer from an unknown medical issue.

Darden was taken to a nearby hospital where he died just after 5 p.m., says the Morning News.

Authorities are currently investigating the incident. No cause of death has been determined.

Former Constable Accused of Murder, Assault

(ROCKWALL COUNTY, Texas) -- A former Hunt County constable was indicted on Wednesday on murder and assault charges.

According to the Dallas Morning News, Anthony Dewayne Lewis, 48, is accused of fatally shooting his former girlfriend, Jessica Aguilar, 33. He is also alleged to have injured Aguilar's date, Francisco Delacruz, on February 16 in Rockwall County.

After the alleged shooting incident, Lewis led police on a chase through three counties, according to the Morning News. Lewis was wounded in the chase when he pointed a gun at officers.

Lewis was charged with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He remains at Rockwall County Jail where he is held on $1 million bond.

Police Searching for Man Who Robbed EZ Money Loan Store

(DALLAS) -- Dallas police are searching for a man who robbed an EZ Money Loan Store on Tuesday.

According to robbery detectives, the suspect entered the EZ Money Loan store, located at 9310 Forest Lane just after 11 a.m. Wielding a black semi-automatic handgun, the suspect demanded the clerk give him money. The clerk complied, and the suspect fled the location on foot, last seen behind the shopping center.

The suspect is described as a black male about 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing between 190 and 170 pounds. He was last seen wearing blue jean, a black t-shirt and a gold and black Pittsburgh Pirates baseball hat.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact the Dallas Police Department’s Robbery Unit at (214) 671-3584.

Man Pleads Guilty to 2011 Murder of Homeless Man

(FORT WORTH, Texas) -- A Fort Worth man pleaded guilty to murder on Monday in connection with the killing of a homeless man in August 2011, The Star-Telegram reports.

Jose Plascencia, 23, plead guilty to the August 25 fatal stabbing of Robert Bradley, 52. He was given a 10-year prison sentence.

Plascencia was one of five people, including two juveniles, who were arrested in connection with a string of robberies and assaults that night. The two other arrested adults plead guilty to other crimes committed during the spree.  

Eduardo Luis Mendez, 24, pleaded guilty to a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and Roman Vela, 19, pleaded guilty to a burglary of a vehicle.

Dallas Man Allegedly Chokes Mom to Death

(DALLAS) -- A Dallas man is accused of murdering his mother on Saturday night, according to Dallas police.

Police received a call from an out-of-state man who said he had heard a disturbance while on the phone with the victim, Isabel Kristina Lopez. Officers responded shortly after 7 p.m. to the home at 801 Beckleymeade Avenue.

Officers found Isabel Lopez’s body lying on the bedroom floor.

Officers confronted Lopez’s son, 25-year-old Gonzalo Roberto Lopez. Police say that Gonzalo Lopez “made a sudden, voluntary statement: ‘I choked my mom.’”

He was arrested and taken to police headquarters for questioning, and later taken to the Dallas County jail to be charged with murder. He is being held on a $750,000 bond.
