Arlington Councilman Tells of Undercover FBI Work
(ARLINGTON, Texas) -- Arlington City Councilman Robert Rivera recently went undercover for the FBI to gather evidence against a man who was allegedly attempting to bribe a judge.
Forty-year-old Halid Amer was out on bond awaiting trial for another crime involving bank fraud.
Amer allegedly sought out Rivera and bribed him in an attempt to have Rivera solicit the judge, ABC News Dallas affiliate WFAA reports.
Rivera says he did not even know the judge, but believes he was singled about by Amer because both Rivera and the judge are Hispanic. Rivera worked with the FBI by wearing a wiretap on six different occasions.
Investigators used the evidence against Amer to get his bond revoked. He's not yet been charged.
