Dallas Police Officers Dodge Bullets in Drive-By

(DALLAS) -- Three Dallas police officers dodged bullets during a drive-by shooting in downtown Dallas early Sunday morning, ABC affilaite WFAA-TV reports.

The incident occurred at 2:30 a.m. in the 200 block of South Pearl Street near Central Expressway. Police say several fights broke out in parking lots where hundreds of people were hanging out after clubs in the area closed for the night.

Police say 28-year-old Daniel Cortez fired shots at three officers from his truck. One of the officers returned gunfire, hitting Cortez's truck.

Police arrested Cortez a few blocks away. He has been charged with aggravated assault on a public servant.
