Dallas Police Shoot Man Holding Family Hostage

(DALLAS) -- Dallas police officers shot a man who held his extended family of two toddlers, two teens and their parents hostage early Friday morning, ABC affiliate WFAA-TV reports.

The suspect, identified as a relative of the family named Robert, held the hostages at a home in the 3800 block of Casa Del Sol. Police talked the suspect into releasing his family and shot him as he allegedly attempted to leave the house through the garage. He allegedly pointed his gun at the officers and was shot in the alley. The family members were not harmed.

The suspect was taken to a local hospital and was undergoing surgery Friday morning. His condition is not known.
