Girl, 9, Fatally Shot at Fort Worth Home

(FORT WORTH, Texas) -- Police are investigating the shooting death of a 9-year-old girl in Fort Worth on Wednesday night.

The incident reportedly happened at a home located on Cherokee Ranch Road. Police were called to the residence, and there officers said they were told that the girl's father was removing a gun from a bag when the weapon discharged and hit the child.

The girl was taken to an area hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The incident remains under investigation. It was not immediately known if any charges would be filed.
