Texas Gets 'Gold Shovel' Award for Job Creation

(AUSTIN, Texas) -- Texas has yet again been honored with a Gold Shovel Award from Area Development Magazine in recognition of the state's efforts in job creation.

"Here in Texas, we've kept a laser focus on job creation, keeping government out of the way and allowing employers to thrive and create opportunity in our communities," Governor Rick Perry said in a statement. "Our ongoing commitment to the low taxes, predictable regulations, fair legal system and skilled workforce that have made the Lone Star State the nation's leading job creator will continue to be a beacon for employers looking for the freedom to risk their capital and see their businesses succeed."

Since the magazine began giving out the awards, Texas has received an award every yea, with this year's award being the seventh consecutive honor.
