Texas Soldier Killed by IED in Afghanistan

(WASHINGTON) -- A soldier from Texas has been killed while serving in Afghanistan as part of Operation Enduring Freedom, the Department of Defense announced on Monday.

Cpl. Juan P. Navarro, 23, of Austin, Texas, reportedly died on Saturday in Kandahar, Afghanistan, after being attacked by enemy forces with an improvised explosive device, according to a news release issued by the department.

Navarro was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 23rd Infantry Regiment, 3rd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington.
