Siblings Rescued after Iowa State Fair Ride's Mid-Air Malfunction

(DES MOINES, Iowa) -- Rescue crews sprung into action at the Iowa State Fair on Monday, after two siblings found themselves stuck in mid-air on one of the rides.

Officials say around 1 p.m. the Ejection Seat ride malfunctioned, resulting in a safety system kicking in and leaving Jenny Struder, 23, and her brother Derek, 17, stuck in the air, according to ABC's Des Moines affiliate WOI-TV. With the help of a crane, crews were able to get both siblings back on the ground safely approximately two hours after the malfunction. The pair was not injured in the incident.

Officials say the ride will be closed while an investigation is conducted into the malfunction, reports WOI-TV.
