(DES MOINES, Iowa) -- A man was arrested after he allegedly fired a gun into the air to scare away his fiancée's attackers.
According to the Des Moines Register, David Walker Jr., 29, was taken into custody at his home on Wednesday on charges of reckless use of a firearm. Walker told the police that his fiancée had walked outside of their home and yelled across the street asking their neighbors to quiet down.
A group of juveniles allegedly attacked the woman, pulling her away from the home and punching her in the face. According to the Register, Walker grabbed his gun and fired twice into the air, scaring the youth away.
Walker's fiancée suffered a bloody nose along with bruising and swelling to her face, says the Register. Walker was released Wednesday night.
During the melee, officers saw a man across the street toss an object away. The Register reports that the object turned out to be an illegal knife with a spring-loaded blade. Craig D'Shon Hunt, 18, was charged with carrying a concealed weapon and is currently being held in Polk County Jail.
