Johnston Woman Who Finds $2,000 Returns it to Rightful Owner

(URBANDALE, Iowa) -- A Johnston woman who found an envelope filled with $2,000 outside of an Urbandale bank helped the money find its way back to its owner, the Des Moines Register reports.

Mary Bleadorn, 68, discovered some envelopes and papers on her way back to her car after stopping at a vegetable stand. She discovered that one of the envelopes was filled with $2,000 cash. The nearby bank was closed, so Bleadorn went home to look through the mail in search of identifying information on the owner. When she didn't find any, she contacted the police and handed everything over, the paper says.

Officers then worked with bank officials to identify the owner of the lost money. The case was resolved several weeks later. Frank Butera was identified as the rightful owner and the money was returned to him last week.
