Man Wanted in Iowa Held in Texas

(BROWNSVILLE, Texas) -- A man has been detained on a material witness warrant in Texas in connection with an investigation into the death of a woman in Iowa.

Raymond Benitez was reportedly held by authorities in Brownsville, Texas, on Friday while allegedly attempting to cross the border into Mexico, according to published reports.

A material witness warrant was issued for Benitez in connection with the death of Judy VanLo, 18, who was found dead in a home on Boyd Street in Des Moines, Iowa, on June 17.
