Police Seek to Find Driver Who Hit Bicyclist

(DES MOINES, Iowa) -- Police are searching for a hit-and-run suspect who hit a bicyclist on Wednesday, according to The Des Moines Register.

Robert Vitera, 60, was struck by a car and thrown into a ditch on Wednesday at around 11:20 p.m. when he was riding his bicycle on the northbound lanes of Northeast Hubbell Avenue by the intersection of 34th Avenue Northwest.

Vitera was taken to Mercy Medical Center for injuries and is in stable condition since Thursday.

The car was not identified, but authorities are encouring residents to call Polk County Crime Stoppers if you can provide any information about the crime.
