Two Die from Semi-Truck Crash

(DES MOINES, Iowa) -- On Tuesday, two Missouri men were killed in Iowa when a semi-truck hit their car from behind on the highway, reports The Des Moines Register.

Robert Lindsey, 50, O’Fallon, Mo. was driving slower than the posted speed limit on Highway 63 in Wapello County when he was hit from behind by a semi truck driven by Steven W. Searls, 58, Auburndale, Fla. The crash occurred at around 1:15 a.m.

Charles W. Haffer Jr., 44, and Tony R. Penberthy, 47, were killed, according to officials while Lindsey sustained injuries.

None of the men were wearing seatbelts, and authorities are investigating whether there were mechanical issues with the car.
