Appeals Court Rules Against Detroit International Bridge Company
(DETROIT) -- The U.S. Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals on Monday ruled against the Detroit International Bridge Co. regarding whether or not the company is a federal instrumentality, the Detroit Free Press reports.
An earlier Michigan Supreme Court ruling held that DIBC was a federal instrumentality, and therefore exempt from City of Detroit regulations. The U.S. government sued to reverse that finding, and said that the company is private and is not affiliated with the U.S. government.
A federal district court ruled in the government's favor, and the federal appeals court upheld that decision on Monday.
