McCain Visits Michigan to Rally Support Among Veterans for Romney
(UTICA, Mich.) -- U.S. Sen. John McCain traveled to Michigan Monday morning in an effort to rally support among veterans for Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, the Detroit Free Press reports.
In a roundtable discussion hosted by Rep. Candace Miller (R-Harrison Township), veterans reportedly spoke about the difficulties of finding jobs, benefits and training after returning home from war. McCain criticized President Barack Obama's leadership skills, saying he leads from behind and talks about withdrawal instead of victory, the paper says.
After the discussion ended, about 150 people gathered in an American Legion Hall to meet the 2008 Republican presidential nominee. McCain is also scheduled to attend two fundraisers in metro Detroit for the Romney campaign.
