More Children Rescued in Nationwide Prostitution Sweep
(DETROIT, Mich.) – Seventy-nine children have been rescued as part of a nationwide prostitution sweep. Locally, six children: five girls and one boy were rescued and placed in the custody of the Child Protective Services, ABC affiliate WXYZ reports.
Twenty seven people were also arrested locally, following a nationwide three-day prositution sweep. Alleged pimps in the state were arrested in Madison Heights, Sterling Heights, Troy and Southfield.
The Michigan task force includes forces from Detroit, Roseville, Southfield, Highland Park, Michigan State Police, the Wayne County Sheriff's Officer, the Department of Corrections and Macomb County's M.A.C.E.
The Michigan sting is a part of a nationwide effort that has so far resulted in the arrests of 104 alleged pimps.
