Photo Courtesy - PRNewsFoto/MTV Networks International, Kevin Westenberg(NEW YORK) -- Bon Jovi will receive a very special at honor at this year's MTV European Music Awards, taking place Nov. 7 in Madrid.

Jon Bon Jovi and the guys will receive the Global Icon award, to recognize the fact that 25 years after they formed, they're still selling out concerts all over the world and releasing chart-topping albums.  This the first time the award has ever been presented.

Bon Jovi will also perform during the show, along with the likes of Katy Perry and Shakira.

Jon Bon Jovi says preserving the group's legacy is high priority for him.  He explains, "That, to me, is what it's about at this point.  Like it or not, we're one of the the biggest bands in the world, and our legacy is important to me.  I'd like to make sure that the way we leave it is timeless, and classic, and on point and true to what I set out to do."  He adds, "We work very hard at that."

Bon Jovi's Greatest Hits will hit stores Nov. 9.  In addition to all their biggest classics, it features a few new songs written specifically for the project, including the current single "What Do You Got?"
