Lady Gaga Postpones Concerts Due to Strikes in France

Photo Courtesy - Streamline Records(PARIS) -- All the "Little Monsters" in France are extremely disappointed to hear that the ongoing strikes in that country have caused Lady Gaga to postpone her two performances in Paris there this week.  A message on Gaga's website says the shows, scheduled for Oct. 22 and 23, have been postponed to Dec. 19 and 20 "as a result of the logistical difficulties due to the strikes."

The message explains, "There is no certainty that the trucks can make it to [the venue] for  this weekend's shows....Lady Gaga apologizes to her fans for any inconvenience."

Workers in France are protesting the fact that President Nicholas Sarkozy wants to raise the retirement age from 60 to 62, because the country's state-run pension funds are facing a cash crunch.  Unions have been organizing marches throughout the country, and some have resulted in violent clashes with police.

In addition, the public transport and educational systems have been severely disrupted.  The Wall Street Journal reports that close to half the flights to and from Paris' main airports have been canceled and, because refinery workers have been on strike for over a week, a third of France's gas stations have run dry.
