Glee Cast Beats The Beatles on the Billboard Charts

Photo Courtesy - 20th Century Fox/Sony Music EntertainmentThe cast of Glee has officially scored more chart singles on the Billboard Hot 100 than The Beatles.  With the debut of six new Glee singles from last week's Britney Spears tribute episode, the show's cast has notched 75 entries on the chart, surpassing the Beatles' 71.

That means the Glee cast now holds the record for the most charted singles ever by a non-solo act.  Among solo acts, Elvis Presley is still the King, with 108 total chart entries.

It took the Beatles from 1964 to 1996 to amass their 71 chart entries.  The Glee cast did it in just one year, four months and two weeks.

The Glee cast's latest crop of singles includes five Britney Spears covers, plus a version of Paramore's "The Only Exception."  "Toxic" was the biggest of the six, debuting at number 16 with 109,000 downloads, according to Nielsen Soundscan.  All together, the six tracks sold 406,000 copies.

Since Glee began, the cast's singles have sold 11.5 million downloads, according to Nielsen Soundscan.  The best-seller is their version of Journey's "Don't Stop Believin'."
