Rascal Flatts Goes Back to Basics with New Album 'Nothing Like This'

Photo Courtesy - Big Machine Records(NEW YORK) -- Rascal Flatts is back with a new album out this Tuesday called Nothing Like This, featuring their latest hit "Why Wait."  If that tune brings to mind some of the Flatts' earlier hits, there's a good reason for that.

Band member Jay DeMarcus tells ABC News Radio, "It kind of harkens back to some of the older stuff that we first sang, like the 'Love You Out Loud' and the 'Everyday Loves' and things like that that were kind of more of our up tempo stuff."

The Flatts really focused on getting their signature harmonies back out in front on this project by stripping away a lot of the big production.  The band's Joe Don Rooney tells ABC News Radio that return to form was a suggestion from the fans.

"We've been talking to them through Twitter and Facebook and, and it's like they've been talking about that, like 'We'd like to hear some of your old kind of sound again on this new album,'" Rooney says.

In addition to "Why Wait," Nothing Like This also features Rascal Flatts' collaboration with pop star Natasha Bedingfield on the tune "Easy."

Look for Rascal Flatts to perform on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and The Late Show with David Letterman on CBS Monday.  Their Invitation Only special also premieres Monday night on CMT.

Lady Gaga to Be in New 'Muppet' Movie?

Photo Courtesy - Streamline Records(NEW YORK) -- Lady Gaga once wore a coat made out of Kermit the Frog dolls, and she took the real Kermit as her date to the MTV Video Music Awards.  So maybe it's not so surprising that there's talk she may appear in the upcoming Muppet movie, which is due out next Christmas.

The movie industry publication Production Weekly sent out a tweet late last week that said, "hearing [actors] Eric Stonestreet, John Krasinski and Ed Helms may be in in Lady Gaga's entourage for The Muppets."

If these actors are going to be in Gaga's entourage, then it stands to reason that Gaga herself might appear in the project.

According to published reports, actor Jason Segel, who's writing the movie and starring in it, has already said that in the film, Miss Piggy has become "a Lady Gaga-esque character living in Europe."

Kanye West Cancels 'Today' Show Performance

Photo Courtesy - Island Def Jam(NEW YORK) -- Kanye West has pulled out of a Nov. 26 appearance on the Today show, a publicist for the program confirmed to ABC News Radio.

West explained in a rant on Twitter that he was backing out of the performance because he felt he had been "set up" by Today and interviewer Matt Lauer when he appeared on the show earlier this week.

The show chose to play a clip of him interrupting Taylor Swift at the MTV Awards while discussing comments he made regarding former President George W. Bush.  Lauer later defended the show's decision to do so, but Kanye wrote on Twitter, "Did you see them try to justify playing the audio under my interview.  Yo, sometimes you're just wrong, and it ain't nothing you can say to justify it, believe me, I know!"  Predicting that he'd be criticized for his decision, Kanye wrote, "It's very simple to call someone angry or spoiled or the one thousand names I've been called, but it's harder to try to take a look at what's really behind the curtain."

The rapper made it clear that he carries no personal vendetta against Lauer. He wrote, "I don't hate Matt Lauer. We don't promote hate. That's the whole point!  I promote love and truth!...they made a mistake.  They thought they could pull it, but they couldn't!  That was just a small representation of a bigger media play that's been going on since the beginning of time."

Kanye ended his rant by saying, "Much love to Matt and the whole Today show.  I accept y'alls future apology in advance LOL!"

'Teenage Dream' May Be Biggest Weekly 'Glee' Single

Photo Courtesy - 20th Century Fox(NEW YORK) -- Katy Perry loves it, and it seems the rest of the world does, too.  Billboard reports the Glee cast's version of Perry's hit "Teenage Dream" has sold so many downloads it could set a record for the best-ever sales week for a Glee song.

Billboard says the track may hit 150,000 to 175,000 downloads by Sunday.  The day it was released -- this past Tuesday -- it notched higher first-day sales than any prior Glee song -- 55,000 downloads.

If that trend continues, "Teenage Dream" may be the show's first top 10 single since it's very first release -- a 2009 cover of Journey's "Don't Stop Believin," which debuted at number four on the Billboard Hot 100.  That song sold 177,000 copies in its first week and so far, it's been the show's only top 10 hit out of 89 chart entries.

Marie Osmond: Son's Suicide Is 'Probably the Hardest Thing I've Been Through'

Photo Courtesy - ABC News(CHICAGO) -- It has been just eight months since Marie Osmond experienced every mother's worst nightmare: her son, 18-year-old Michael Blosil, committed suicide.

Osmond is speaking out for the first time about the day Blosil died. Thursday, the entertainment icon tearfully told talk show host Oprah Winfrey on The Oprah Winfrey Show about the very last conversation she had with her son.

The last time they spoke, Blosil expressed despair.

"When I heard him say to me, I have no friends, it brought back when I went through depression, because you really feel so alone," Osmond said.

"I'm not a depressed person, but I understand that place, that darkness," she said, referring to post-partum depression.

Osmond became emotional as she talked about that conversation.

"I told him, I said, 'Mike, I'm gonna be there Monday and it's gonna be OK.' But depression doesn't wait 'til Monday," she said.

It was Friday, Feb. 26, when Blosil jumped to his death from the roof of his apartment building in Los Angeles.

Blosil, a first-year student at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, had battled with substance abuse and depression following his parents' divorce in 2007.

He entered rehab after the divorce.

Blosil was one of five children adopted by the star.
