ABC Bans Commercial for Comedy Movie 'Our Idiot Brother'

Comstock Images/Thinkstock(NEW YORK) -- ABC is refusing to broadcast its commercial for the comedy Our Idiot Brother unless certain portions are edited out of a trailer, the Weinstein Company said Thursday.

The Hollywood Reporter says the network objects to scenes that appear to show a drug deal, a clip of Paul Rudd's character squeezing a juice box as he pretends to urinate, and several references to "getting high and smoking."

ABC told the Hollywood Reporter, "The ABC Television Network approved and accepted multiple spots for Our Idiot Brother, and has aired spots for this film. The network did not accept spots that violated our long-established Ad Guidelines."

ABC actions prompted Harvey Weinstein to release a new uncensored trailer for the movie, which opened Friday. The spot that ABC is refusing to air is already appearing on television in its current form on several broadcast and cable networks.
