(NEW YORK) -- Alec Baldwin deactivated his Twitter account last week after unleashing a profane rant on the site toward a Daily Mail reporter who claimed the actor's wife tweeted during James Gandolfini's funeral.
And now, in an interview with Vanity Fair, Baldwin says he will "never" re-open his account.
He explains, "I went to Jimmy Gandolfini’s funeral, and when I was there I realized Jimmy Gandolfini didn’t have Twitter."
He adds, "This is all a waste of time. Meaning it’s fun sometimes, but less and less, and less. It’s just another chink in your armor for people to come and kill you."
A day after his Twitter rant, Baldwin apologized for calling the reporter a "toxic little queen."
