Alex Trebek Burglary Suspect Says She's a Prostitute, Not a Thief

Ben Hider/Getty Images(SAN FRANCISCO) -- The woman accused of breaking into Alex Trebek's hotel room in San Francisco last month and stealing from him says there's been a big misunderstanding.

She says she's not a burglar -- she's a prostitute.

An attorney for 56-year-old Lucinda Moyers tells the San Francisco Examiner that his client was at the Marriott Marquis in downtown San Francisco to meet with a john, who failed to answer the door when she knocked.  Moyers further claims she never entered Trebek's room, and that she fled from the Jeopardy! host because she didn't want hotel security to find out she was attempting to meet with a john.

Trebek has said he tore his Achilles tendon while chasing Moyers.

Moyers is accused of stealing $650, a bracelet and other items from the room where Trebek and his wife were staying.  She's pleaded not guilty to one count each of residential burglary and possession of stolen property.
