Amanda Bynes Won't Go to Jail in DUI Case

Steve Granitz/WireImage(LOS ANGELES) -- The good news continues for Amanda Bynes, who will avoid jail time in connection to a 2012 Los Angeles DUI case.

People magazine reports the L.A. District Attorney's office said that Bynes pleaded no contest to charges on Monday. Bynes, who was not in court, made the plea through her lawyer. He pleaded on her behalf to a lesser alcohol-related offense.

The 27-year-old was sentenced to three years probation and ordered to pay fines. The former Nickelodeon star will also have to attend an alcohol education course for three months.

Bynes was arrested on suspicion of DUI in West Hollywood, Calif., in April of 2012. She struggled with many other personal problems in the ensuing 15 months.

Bynes was detained by L.A. police last summer after an incident in which she allegedly started a fire in a residential driveway. After spending time in the psychiatric wing of UCLA Medical Center, she was moved in late August to a Malibu rehab facility.

Bynes left rehab in December 2013 to continue outpatient treatment.
