(LOS ANGELES) -- American Hustle earned the top prize Saturday night at the 20th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, held at the Los Angeles Shrine Exposition Center.
The David O. Russell film was presented the award for outstanding cast. The cast includes Oscar nominees Christian Bale, Amy Adams, Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper.
Dallas Buyers Club co-stars Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto won the individual male acting honors. Blue Jasmine's Cate Blanchett was named outstanding actress, and 12 Years a Slave star Lupita Nyong'o earned the award for outstanding supporting actress. All four are nominated for an Oscar.
In his acceptance speech, McConaughey compared acting to space travel, saying, "It feels like they could put a blindfold on you and put you in a spaceship and take you to Neptune and you could hop off on the planet and they better have the sprockets rolling when you get off that spaceship because you are going to behave as your man."
Later, when Blanchett was encouraged to wrap up her acceptance speech, she joked, "Twenty-nine seconds? Matthew McConaughey spoke about Neptune."
On the TV side, AMC's Breaking Bad won top drama cast, and ABC's Modern Family was awarded outstanding comedy cast.
Eighty-one-year-old West Side Story actress Rita Moreno accepted SAG's life achievement award.
The SAG Awards were simulcast on TNT and TBS.
