"Captain America: The Winter Soldier" Opens Nationwide Friday

Buena Vista(NEW YORK) -- Marvel's latest film has arrived. Captain America: The Winter Soldier, the sequel to 2011's Captain America: The First Avenger, is the lone movie opening nationwide on Friday.

Chris Evans reprises his role as Steve Rogers, a.k.a. the titular character, who's coming off an epic battle alongside other Marvel superheroes in the 2012 blockbuster The Avengers. He works with Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow, as well as a newly-introduced hero, Anthony Mackie's the Falcon, as they unravel a conspiracy after a S.H.I.E.L.D. colleague is attacked.

Once Upon a Time actor Sebastian Stan plays the villain of the film, the Winter Soldier. Robert Redford is new to the cast, playing Alexander Pierce, the head of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders and Emily VanCamp also star in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, which is screening in 3D and in IMAX theaters. It's rated PG-13.

Some predict that Captain America: The Winter Soldier will earn $90 million this weekend, and set an April debut record in the process. Fast Five holds the current mark, raking in over $86 million three years ago.
