Chelsea Kane Leads the Pack on 'Dancing with the Stars'
ABC, Inc.(LOS ANGELES) -- Hines Ward and partner Kym Johnson received perfect scores across the board from the judges for their two-dance performances on Monday’s Dancing with the Stars, but Disney star Chelsea Kane and partner Mark Ballas leaped to the front of the pack by winning an "instant cha cha" competition that earned them 15 additional points going into Tuesday’s results show.
Kym Johnson showed no ill effects from her neck injury following a fall during rehearsal last Friday. Johnson said she didn't really want to dance Monday but felt "blessed and so lucky to be okay." Ward said he felt sick to his stomach when he saw Johnson was hurt. The couple earned perfect scores of 10 from all three judges for their tango and salsa performances, for a total score of 60.
Kane and Ballas received perfect 10s for their rumba and 28 points out of 30 from the judges for their Argentine tango. The couple was two points behind Johnson and Ward going into the winner-takes-all "instant cha cha" competition. After two heats and a final, Kane and Ballas were named the winners, earning 15 extra points.
Another couple will be voted off Tuesday night on the Dancing with the Stars results show, which begins at 9 p.m. Eastern. The show will also feature Stevie Nicks performing her classic song "Landslide" and her new single, "Secret Love."
Preceding the results show at 8 p.m. Eastern time will be a one-hour live special featuring highlights of freestyle performances from past seasons.
