Chris Brown's Probation Reinstated; Must Perform 1,000 Hours Community Service

David McNew/Getty Images(LOS ANGELES) -- It's good news and worse news for Chris Brown.  The good news is, a judge has reinstated his probation after he was cleared of last May's alleged hit-and-run.  The worse news: Chris will have to pretty much perform his community service from scratch.

Chris was sentenced to five years of probation and 180 days -- that's just over 1,400 hours -- of community service for his February, 2009 assault of Rihanna.  Though he initially earned high marks from the court for completing his community service in his home state of Virginia, allegations surfaced earlier this year that he falsified some records submitted to the court to document those hours.

Friday in Los Angeles, a judge ruled that Chris will have to complete an additional 1,000 hours of community service, and he has to do it in Los Angeles this time, where the court can keep a closer eye on him.  His service will include road work and graffiti removal, according to TMZ.

As far as the hit-and-run goes, Chris was cleared of those charges Thursday after the court heard that Brown and the driver had reached an agreement outside of court, and the driver declined to press charges.  Had he been found guilty of hit-and-run, Chris could have been sentenced to four years in prison.

Chris has another year to go on his probation, provided he keeps his nose clean.
