(NEW YORK) -- While he's promoting his new film, Out of the Furnace, Christian Bale is giving Ben Affleck some friendly, Batman-to-Batman advice.
The choice of the Gigli star-turned-award-winning Argo director as the Caped Crusader is still a wound many fanboys refuse to accept -- as evidenced by the nearly constant Internet vitriol he's faced since the casting announcement was made.
However, Bale wore the Dark Knight's cowl for three movies, so he knows how best to navigate the snark-filled waters.
"Look, there is no middle ground on the Internet," said the actor to Details, according to an excerpt published by the New York Post. "It's just extreme feelings. They love you or abhor you. Ben knows that, and I doubt if he spent one minute worrying about it."
To Access Hollywood, Bale revealed he gave only one piece of guidance to Affleck: get a Bat-fly installed on Bruce Wayne's crime-fighting suit.
"The only thing I said to him was to make sure [he can] take a pi** without having anyone help him, because it's a little bit humiliating. You have to have someone...help you out of the costume in order to be able to do that. So that was my main piece of advice."
