Conrad Murray Still Maintains His Innocence

David McNew-Pool/Getty Images(LOS ANGELES) -- Although it's been three years since Michael Jackson died in his Los Angeles home, the doctor convicted of involuntary manslaughter in Jackson's death still maintains his innocence.

Through his lawyers, Dr. Conrad Murray told E! News that although he was found guilty of giving Jackson the lethal dose of the powerful anesthetic propofol, he was trying to wean the singer off the drug.  He also shared that the King of Pop developed his propofol addiction from his severe insomnia.

Murray says he regrets that he didn't do more to prove he didn't do anything wrong, including not testifying at trial.  When asked if he felt the Jackson family deserved an apology, Murray said through his lawyers that he didn't.  In fact, Murray said the family needs to give the fallen King of Pop an apology.

Murray also claims that Jackson did not want to be buried in California.  Instead, he claims the singer wanted to be cremated, with his ashes thrown in the Pacific Ocean.  Jackson is currently buried in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, Calif.

Behind bars, where he's serving a four-year sentence, Murray spends a lot of time reading letters sent to him from around the world, most of which he claims are positive.

His lawyers say Murray also "reads a lot of historical fiction.  He probably spends 10 hours a day reading."

Murray, who so far has served seven months of his sentence, is required by law to serve all four years.
