Critics' Choice TV Awards: "Breaking Bad," "Big Bang Theory" Win Big

Hemera/Thinkstock(BEVERLY HILLS, Calif.) -- At a ceremony hosted by Parks and Recreation's Retta in Beverly Hills, Calif., Monday night, the Broadcast Television Journalists Association named its top picks at the third annual Critics' Choice Television Awards.  The show, with its frequently odd fumbles and category ties, was streamed live online.

The CBS show The Big Bang Theory scored wins for best comedy series, best supporting actress in a comedy series for Kaley Cuoco -- an honor she shared with The Middle's Eden Sher -- and best supporting actor in a comedy series for Simon Helberg.

HBO's Game of Thrones and AMC's Breaking Bad tied for best drama, while Bryan Cranston took home a trophy for best actor in a drama series for the second year in a row for his work on the latter show.

The best actress in a drama series trophy went to Tatiana Maslany for her work in the BBC America show Orphan Black.

FX's American Horror Story: Asylum earned wins in the best actor and actress in a movie or miniseries categories for stars Zachary Quinto and Sarah Paulson, respectively.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus scored a best actress in a comedy trophy for her work in Veep, while Louis CK, who wasn't at the event, was named best actor in a comedy for Louie.

Other notable no-show winners included Michael Douglas, best actor in a miniseries or movie for HBO's Liberace biopic Behind the Candelabra, which also snagged best movie or miniseries; Jane Fonda, best guest performer in a drama for HBO's The Newsroom; and the entire cast of Game of Thrones.

Comic Patton Oswalt took the trophy for best guest performer in a comedy for his work on Community, but vowed on the show that he'd be giving his trophy to fellow nominee Molly Shannon -- that's how much he respected her guest appearances on HBO's Enlightened.
