(NEW YORK) -- Cynthia Bailey is not holding anything back on the fifth season of Bravo's Real Housewives of Atlanta.
After wading through her tough relationship issues with husband Peter publicly last season, Bailey appears to be in a good space thanks in part to the success of her modeling school, The Bailey Agency School of Fashion, and because she's playing it differently in front of the cameras thanks to a suggestion from her daughter, Noelle.
"First season I remember I did a lot of crying because I was so stressed out with the wedding. Well that really bothered her to see me crying on TV," the 43-year-old model told ABC News Radio. "She never really saw me crying in real life because I would never let her see me that broken down...So I make a conscience effort not to cry."
And it seems like Bailey has a lot less to cry about. Last season, fans tuned in to see her mother and sister nearly botch her wedding, a particularly drama-filled episode in season four. This season, viewers don't see as much of Bailey's family.
"It just seemed like not a good idea to have them as involved to me because it really was difficult on our relationship you know how things kind of played out," Bailey said. "I'll just say that. And it's just been better for us as a family."
Now Bailey can focus on her relationships: her real-life friendship with co-star Nene Leakes -- "we kind of complement each other," she says -- and her on-screen relationships with the rest of the cast members. One in particular, with Porsha Stewart, was tense this season after Bailey fired Stewart from assisting with her first-ever Miss Renaissance Pageant.
"Porsha and I are getting to know each other. We're definitely going to have our ups and downs," Bailey admitted.
Still, she'd like for Stewart's husband Kordell, who has a reputation with the housewives of being controlling, to stay out of their relationship. During one episode, Kordell attempted to play Mr. Fix It after Bailey fired Stewart.
"I would just like for us to kind of go through our stuff between us and him not be so involved," Bailey says, adding, "I do my pillow talk with Peter as well, but I wouldn't want him to call Porsha and meet her for lunch and be like, 'Well, what is going on with you guys?'...Let the girls handle the girls, and the guys can do their thing."
And if you're wondering if she's seen Phaedra Parks or Kenya Moore's competing booty videos, she says no, "in terms of kind of building my booty up...I'm kind of good in the booty department."
Bravo's Real Housewives of Atlanta airs Sunday nights at 9 p.m. Eastern time.
