(LOS ANGELES) -- Former Law & Order star Dennis Farina was battling cancer at the time of his death.
TMZ quotes Farina's cardiologist as saying the 69-year-old actor had "a small cancer 13 years ago that was treated and cured with surgery," but it recurred recently. He was receiving treatment for his latest bout with cancer when he died.
Farina, who died Monday after suffering a blood clot in his lung, played Detective Joe Fontana on Law & Order. His other credits include the films Get Shorty and Midnight Run.
