Did Katie Holmes Hide Divorce Plans by Using Disposable Cellphone?

Steve Granitz/WireImage(LOS ANGELES) -- Katie Holmes' plan to divorce Tom Cruise was a top-secret affair.

The Los Angeles Times reports that prior to filing for divorce, Holmes used a disposable cellphone given to her by a friend that she used to contact lawyers without her husband's knowledge.

The actress and Cruise announced earlier this week that they have reached a divorce settlement.

Holmes is probably handling the divorce OK.

In an interview with Elle magazine excerpted Tuesday on Us Weekly's website, she says, "If something's not okay, then I make it known.  I will deal with things...the way my mom taught us girls how to be.  She stressed listen, learn, always be strong and be true to yourself."
