"Duck Dynasty" Star: Family Contractually Obligated to Have Beards

Andrew Harrer/Bloomberg via Getty Images (LOS ANGELES) -- The male stars of Duck Dynasty are famous for their beards.  Turns out they may have a financial incentive to keep their scruffy facial hair.

Alan Robertson, who's usually known as the clean-shaven brother in the family featured on the hit A&E series, recently unveiled his own beard during an appearance on the Los Angeles morning TV program Good Day LA.

Robertson explained to the hosts, "I grow one every year during hunting season.  We all do.  We all used to cut them off.  But now, since they [his brothers] are such big stars and their beards are in their contracts, they have to keep them a certain length."  It's unclear whether he was joking about the possible contractual stipulation.

Robertson joined the Duck Dynasty cast as a regular for its fourth season, which ended last week.  The show follows the Robertson family and their duck call business in Louisiana.
