Emmy Buzz Swirling Around "House of Cards," "The Americans" Actors

Mathew Imaging/FilmMagic(NEW YORK) -- Time is ticking for Emmy voters to cast their ballot.  The ballots must be submitted by this Friday afternoon.

There's a lot of buzz surrounding Corey Stoll, who plays intoxicated congressman Peter Russo on the Netflix drama House of Cards.  He says the role has been his greatest challenge as an actor to date.

"I got to do these big political speeches in front of big crowds, and then also play this sort of working-class hero back in Philly, and there's so many different types of scenes," says Stoll.

Stoll's method for pretending to be drunk in front of the camera is interesting.  He explains to ABC News Radio, "Sometimes I would spin around in a circle and then try to be as still as possible.  And then sort of that resistance, that sort of trying to be sober that often, you know, hopefully makes you look drunker."

Another actor to keep an eye on is Noah Emmerich, a.k.a. FBI agent Stan Beeman on the FX drama The Americans.  He says he's feeling anxious that his name has been mentioned as an Emmy contender.

He says, "All of a sudden you start to say, 'okay, well who else is in contention and what's going on,' and there's a little bit of sense of, 'is this going to happen or not'. ...But it's all super-positive," says Emmerich.

The nominations will be announced on July 18.  CBS will air the Emmys ceremony on Sept. 22.
