(SYDNEY) -- Fans flocked to the Event Cinemas in central Sydney Tuesday evening to catch the first premiere for the anticipated sequel Star Trek Into Darkness.
Director J.J. Abrams, as well as many members of the film's cast -- including Chris Pine, who plays U.S.S. Enterprise Captain James T. Kirk; Zachary Quinto, who plays his science officer and confidant Mr. Spock; and Karl Urban, who plays the Enterprise's curmudgeonly chief medic Leonard "Bones" McCoy -- were on hand to pose for pictures for the press and for fans.
Star Trek Into Darkness, which also stars Simon Pegg, Zoe Saldana, and Benedict Cumberbatch, who plays a ruthless villain, opens in the U.S. on May 17.
