"Friends" Reunion Isn't Happening, Says Show's Creator and NBC

Getty Images(LOS ANGELES) -- As much as fans of the sitcom Friends want to see a reunion, it's never going to happen.

So says co-creator Marta Kauffman, following a pair of rumors: that there will be a Friends Thanksgiving special in 2014, and that NBC is resurrecting the show for a full season.

Alas, Kauffman has ruled out any possibility of Rachel, Monica, Phoebe, Ross, Chandler, and Joey coming together again.

She tells E! News, "Friends was about that time in your life when your friends are your family and once you have a family, there's no need anymore."

By the time Friends signed off in 2004, after 10 seasons, Monica and Chandler were married with twins, and Rachel and Ross were rekindling their romance and had a baby of their own.

NBC has also rejected the Friends reunion rumors to Entertainment Weekly.

The stars of Friends -- Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matthew Perry, Matt LeBlanc, and David Schwimmer -- have all worked on various TV and/or movie projects since their hit show ended.

Aniston joked about the speculation in an interview with Ellen DeGeneres set to air on DeGeneres' talk show Thursday.  She asked, "Did Matthew Perry start that?"
