FOX via Getty Images(LOS ANGELES) -- The latest TV series from J.J. Abrams comes to Fox this Sunday night.

Almost Human, set in the year 2048, stars Karl Urban, who appeared in Abrams' two Star Trek films. He plays Detective John Kennex, who awakens from a coma following an attack on the police to find that he lost a leg that has been replaced by a high-tech artificial one.

John lives in a time when police officers are partnered with androids. He has trouble working with such machines, but he ends up working and forming an interesting bond with a discontinued android named Dorian, played by Michael Ealy.

The first half of the Almost Human series premiere airs Sunday night on Fox at 8 p.m. Eastern time. It continues Monday night at 8 p.m. ET.
