"Game of Thrones" Renewed for Another Two Seasons

Macall B. Polay/HBO(NEW YORK) -- Two days after the very successful return of Game of Thrones, HBO on Tuesday renewed the fantasy drama for a fifth and sixth season.

Season four debuted on Sunday night to an audience of 6.6 million viewers. It was HBO's most-watched program since The Sopranos finale in 2007.

The episode scored an additional 1.6 million viewers with two replays later that night.  

Game of Thrones is based on the book series A Song of Ice and Fire, by George R.R. Martin.
