'Grey's Anatomy' Cast to Perform Songs in Musical Episode

Disney/ABC Television Group(NEW YORK) -- Snow Patrol's "Chasing Cars" and The Fray's "How to Save a Life" became hits largely because they were featured on Grey's Anatomy.  Now those songs are coming back to the ABC series, but this time, they'll be performed by the cast members themselves.

The March 31 episode of Grey's Anatomy, dubbed "Grey's Anatomy: The Music Event," will feature the characters singing their way through "a cataclysmic event" that "rattles the lives of the Seattle Grace doctors to the core," according to the network.  Also, Callie, played by Sara Ramirez, is on the verge of a life-changing moment with Arizona, and she "envisions her hospital and friends as it has never been seen before," according to ABC.

A total of nine songs will be performed in the episode, according to Billboard.  The soundtrack will be released March 31.  In addition to "Chasing Cars" and "How to Save a Life," Billboard reports that viewers will see Ramirez, a Tony-winning former Broadway star, sing Brandi Carlile's "The Story" in the episode, and also duet with Jessica Capshaw on KT Tunstall's song "Universe & U."

Other cast members who will sing include Chandra Wilson, Kevin McKidd, Kim Raver, Daniel Sunjata, Scott Foley, and Justin Chambers.
