Gwyneth Paltrow Close to Signing Record Deal for Country Album?
Gabriel Bouys/AFP/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- Actress Gwyneth Paltrow's recent forays into music, including singing roles on Glee, a Grammy Awards performance with Cee-Lo Green, a starring role in the film Country Strong, and an Oscar-nominated song from that film are apparently more than a passing interest.
The New York Post reports Paltrow is in "advanced talks" with Atlantic Records. The newspaper quotes a source as saying, "Gwyneth's agents have been talking to a number of labels about landing her a substantial record deal. Those who have heard the music say it's country pop."
The source says, "Many labels would be reluctant to give a deal to a star whose first priority is film, but in recent weeks there have been discussions with Atlantic." Paltrow's family connections might also lend her some "street cred" with music execs: her husband is Chris Martin, the frontman of the popular rock band Coldplay.
On another note, Paltrow reprises her role as a substitute teacher on Glee Tuesday night. The actress/singer is also scheduled to appear in a March 15 episode of the Fox series.
