HBO's "True Detective" Debuts to 2.3 Million Viewers

James Bridges/HBO(LOS ANGELES) -- Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson's new HBO series, True Detective, premiered Sunday night to an audience of 2.3 million viewers.

That's the best debut for HBO since Boardwalk Empire launched in 2010.

True Detective preceded the third-season debut of Girls, which drew 1.1 million viewers.
