Howard Stern to Judge 'America's Got Talent'

Bruce Gifford/FilmMagic(NEW YORK) -- After months of speculation, Howard Stern and NBC announced Thursday morning that the shock jock and author will indeed be the new judge on America’s Got Talent.

To accommodate Stern, the Simon Cowell-produced NBC reality competition show will shift production from Los Angeles to New York City. Shooting will get underway in the summer.

Paul Telegdy, NBC’s president of alternative and late night programming, said in a statement, "Howard Stern’s larger-than-life personality will bring a thrilling new dynamic to America’s Got Talent...He’s a proven innovator and his track record in broadcasting is truly remarkable. Howard is very passionate about this show and is fully committed to its future success.”

America's Got Talent -- which allows people of all ages and skill types to compete -- was the top-rated summer series for six years in a row.
