Hugh Laurie Done with TV After 'House'?

Frederick M. Brown/Getty Images(LONDON) -- When House's eighth season wraps up on Fox, star Hugh Laurie's time on the small screen could be over.

In an interview with the U.K.'s Daily Record, Laurie, 52, says, "I can't imagine there will be another one quite like this."  The Brit explains of his award-winning stint playing an American doctor, "I think I have been rather spoiled here."

Laurie, who can now be heard in theaters voicing a character in Arthur Christmas, says, "...I think I am extremely lucky to have had the one shot that I have had at it and I wouldn't go looking for lightning to strike twice."

The actor -- who was famous as a comedy star across the pond before his jaded Dr. Gregory House limped onto TV in 2004 -- may not abandon TV altogether.

"I think I will probably be as interested by either writing or producing or directing, or some other aspect," Laurie tells the paper.  "I find the whole field of it fascinating," he says, noting House's long run gave him the confidence to want to call the shots behind the scenes.
