(NEW YORK) -- With ABC's The View about to lose two of its co-hosts, Barbara Walters announced on the show Monday that Jenny McCarthy will join the ABC daytime talk show in September.
"I want to begin today's program by making an announcement that after months of speculation about who will be our new co-host, we have made a decision," Walters said. "So I am delighted that our next newest co-host is Jenny McCarthy."
Walters added that McCarthy "has made 17 appearances on The View. She's guest co-hosted eight times and we love her because she's fun and she's uninhibited and of course she's opinionated enough to help us begin the latest chapter in The View history."
McCarthy's will join the show on Sept. 9.
"I'm beyond thrilled to be joining Barbara and the other amazing women at the table," said McCarthy, 40, who recently hosted an eponymous VH1 late-night talk show. "I look forward to helping make hot topics a little bit hotter, and showing my mom that my interrupting skills have finally paid off."
The former Playboy model and mother of an 11-year-old son has always been open about her religious background, her parenting beliefs, and of course, sex and relationships.
McCarthy will join the talk show as it's undergoing a number of changes. Elisabeth Hasselbeck confirmed last week that she was leaving the show, while Joy Behar announced earlier that she's planning to depart the show at season's end. Walters also recently announced her retirement from TV next year.
