(LOS ANGELES) -- Jimmy Kimmel is preparing to welcome his first child with his wife, Molly McNearney.
In a taped appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show scheduled to air Wednesday, the ABC late-night host announces that he and McNearney, a head writer on Jimmy Kimmel Live, are having a baby.
Kimmel says his wife wants to know the gender of the baby. But, he jokes, “I don’t think it matters. I don’t think you need to make the baby’s room blue or pink, it’s inherently ridiculous. I don’t think they can even see colors.”
Depending on the gender, Kimmel quips that he'd like to name the child Karate or Riddler.
Kimmel has a 22-year-old daughter and a 20-year-old son from a previous marriage. He tells Ellen DeGeneres, “I told my daughter, ‘Listen, there’s only so much love I have to give -- you’re gonna have to split it up with the new kid. There’s a finite amount of love and that’s that.’”
Kimmel, 46, married McNearney, 35, last summer.
