Jon Favreau Addresses Cowboys & Aliens Criticism at Comic-Con

Paramount Pictures(SAN DIEGO) -- Comic-Con in San Diego closed its first day on Thursday with a panel discussion featuring directors Jon Favreau and Guillermo del Toro. Favreau, who helmed the first two Iron Man films, was promoting his new movie Cowboys & Aliens, an adaptation of a graphic novel that debuts at Comic-Con on Saturday.

Set in the 1800s, Cowboys & Aliens focuses on a posse of cowboys who attempt to defend the Wild West from an alien invasion. It stars Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford.

Favreau said he's confused by the criticism he's heard regarding the title and premise of his movie. He joked, "They go to see Transformers and they see a trailer for Cowboys & Aliens and they're like no, cowboys and aliens, they don't fight each other, it's completely implausible, they didn't exist at the same time. Alien robots turn into trucks, and that's okay. But you get James Bond and, you know, Indiana Jones fighting aliens, we've crossed a line there."

Favreau also quipped," Everybody agrees it's either going to be terrible or it's going to be awesome.  And I think they're probably right."
